Kimberley, DHHS

I’m Kimberley and I work at the Victorian Department of Health and Human Services.

It’s a large, office-based organisation and although I’m pretty good at taking regular breaks during the morning, I’m more prone to long periods of sitting in the afternoons.

I tend to be a fairly active person and prefer to exercise before work. I knew before trialling the app that afternoons were my danger period for extended sitting and this was born out in the data.

The app was useful for getting me moving more after lunch. I know I’m sluggish if I don’t get up often and let’s face it, it’s not hard to get in 15 steps with a quick walk around the office. I’d seen a lot of media about the health dangers of prolonged sitting and a few people here have standing desks so it has already been a topic of conversation. I know the science says that moving more often is good for your health.
